Ms. Bruce

Hi, I’m Ms. Bruce! I teach science, art, reading, and life skills. Most of my day is spent teaching all kinds of science, and helping to organize our educational partnership with Lassen Volcanic National Park.

I attended Chico State, where I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Business with a Minor in Science. I have always had a love for science, nature, and the great outdoors, but this passion really took a stronghold in my life during my college education. I spent the first portion of my career working in the agricultural industry, and after about six year I decided to pursue earning my teaching credential. It has been one of the best decisions I have ever made.

My favorite thing about teaching is getting to watch the proverbial light bulb go off over my students heads. I have always been a hands on learner, and have really enjoyed watching my students learn this way as well! Lassen Park provides one of the best opportunities for hands on, experiential learning, and I am so thankful that my students and I have the opportunity to learn together in the great outdoors!

Mr. Moon - Social Studies

My name is Ethan Moon and I teach social studies at LAVA Charter School. I grew up in Red Bluff until I moved to Arcata to attend Humboldt State University. While I was in college, I became drawn to education which led me to major in English with an emphasis in teaching and a minor in TESOL (Teaching English as a Second or Other Language). During my undergraduate studies, I also became fascinated by geography, leading me to add a second minor in Human Geography. After spending a few years working and managing cafes, I returned to Humboldt State to pursue a multiple subject teaching credential. Following nearly a decade on the coast, I’m happy to be back in Tehama county following my passion of teaching. In my time outside the classroom, I enjoy reading, hiking, traveling, listening to and playing music, and spending time with my lovely partner and three cats.

Mr. Greeley - Math

Hi there, I am Mr. Greeley.  My wife and family live in the country outside of Orland.  We have two sons who are in middle school, they are kept busy with our two dogs, 2 cats, 38 chickens, and 150,000 honey bees (three hives). I have visited 24 countries around the world as a casual traveler, our family hikes, camps, and backpacks whenever we get a chance.  Northern California is amazing and offers much to explore, it is exciting to teach at LAVA and to have the opportunity to do that exploration with our students.

Ms. Alamo - English

Hi. I’m Mrs. Alamo. I’ve worked in the education field since 2012. I’ve always known I’ve wanted to teach and I received my English degree from National University in 2016. After graduating, I married my high school sweetheart, Joshua. We moved to Vancouver, Washington for a year and then decided to come home to Red Bluff in order to be closer to family. I love all things Disney and Harry Potter. On my free time I like to read and explore the outdoors.
